Abstract
Through comparison and induction,a total of 10 sets of the Interchangeable Characters and 6 sets of the Old-new Characters variations were found in the Dunhuang and Song Four versions of the Lion's Roar of Queen Srimala. These variant texts can be roughly divided into three categories:those that reflect the usage habits of the times, those that reflect personal usage habits, and those that cannot reflect the usage habits of the times or individuals. In the group of interchangeable characters, the Dunhuang edition uses more borrowed characters, while the Song Four editions use more corresponding correct characters. In the group of ancient and modern character variations, the Dunhuang version uses more old characters, while the Four Song versions use more new characters. This is due to historical reasons,as well as differences in the use of characters between the engraved and written editions.
