Interpretation of Long(龙)in Yupian(《玉篇》)from Chinese Character Culture
Long(龙)is an important symbol and cultural mark.Yupian(《玉篇》)is the first regular script dictionary in China,which the glyph,the phoneme and the semantics of the Chinese characters containing Long(龙)mainly reflect the ancient Chinese Long(龙)cultural consciousness with abundant and unique contents.Based on the three dimensions of the life spirit,the social application and the folkloric belief,this paper systematically expounds the consciousness of the Chinese Long(龙)culture from Chinese character culture.It strongly proves that the Chinese Long(龙)culture is always filled with the life spirit and the striving spirit with"full of vigor"and"constant self-improvement".Long(龙)became an indispensable decorative pattern and aesthetic object for clothing,food,housing and transportation.Most importantly,Long(龙)as a mythical animal and auspicious beast has built up the cognitive foundation of folkloric belief.
