A Study of Temporal Relational Connectives Acquisition by English Native Speakers
Based on 117 Chinese interlanguage essays,this paper investigates the acquisition of temporal relational connectives by English native speakers.The research shows that the correct and incorrect use of temporal connectives of subsequence are the most,while there is no incorrect use of simultaneous connection.The ranking of the three types of errors is:misuse>redundancy>absence.Among these three types of errors,the temporal connectives of subsequence accounts for the highest proportion,and the time connections expressing start meaning accounts for the highest error rate.As far as the causes of errors in temporal relational connectives are concerned,the main reason for misuse is intralingual transfer,so the comparison of confusing words should be strengthened in international Chinese teaching.The main reason for the absence and redundancy is the negative transfer of mother tongue,and native English speakers should actively adapt to the Chinese way of thinking and expression habits.Standardized and scientific outline compilation,accurate foreign language interpretation,efficient exercise design and reasonable content arrangement are the keys to improve learners'ability to use temporal relational connectives.
