The therapeutic effect of Jiuwei Huopei Gargle on postoperative dry mouth and sore throat in patients undergoing thyroid cancer surgery
Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of Jiuwei Huopei Gargle on postoperative thyroid pa-tients with dry mouth and sore throat.Methods A randomized controlled study was conducted to divide 60 patients with dry mouth and sore throat who underwent thyroidectomy in the hospital from January to December 2023 into an observation group and a control group,with 30 patients in each group.The control group was fasted and prohibited from drinking within 8 hours after returning to the ward after surgery,and received routine nursing care;The observa-tion group was given Jiuwei Huopei mouthwash on the basis of routine nursing plan.Compare the improvement of postoperative dry mouth(dry mouth scale score)and sore throat(sore throat score)between two groups of patients.Results The dry mouth scale[(6.13±1.41)points]and sore throat score[(0.97±0.76)points]of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group[(7.07±1.60)and(1.47±0.78)points],respective-ly,8 hours after surgery,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion Jiuwei Huopei Gar-gle can significantly improve the symptoms of dry mouth and sore throat in patients,enhance their comfort,promote postoperative recovery,and is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
