Research Progress of Traditional Chinese Medicine Regulating Fer-roptosis in the Treatment of Colon Cancer
Colon cancer is one of the most common tumors of the digestive tract, ranking the third in tumor inci-dence worldwide, and the number of cancer-related deaths ranks the second in the world. The treatment of colon cancer usually includes chemotherapy after surgical removal, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, and sometimes targeted therapy. However, many patients die from recurrence or failure of medication. Therefore, the determination of new therapeutic strategies may contribute to the treatment of colon cancer. In recent years, there has been an increasing number of studies on ferroptosis in Traditional Chinese Medicine.Ferroptosis is a new form of programmed cell death with markedly different genetic, biochemical and morphological characteristics.Traditional Chinese Medicine has the characteristics of multi-target and small side effects, and has made great progress in anti-tumor research.Ferroptosis plays an important role in the occurrence and development of tumors, especially for digestive system tu-mors,which has great potential clinical translational research significance. This article reviews the mechanism of Traditional Chinese Medicine in regulating ferroptosis and its related progress in colon cancer,in order to find more factors related to ferroptosis and provide theoretical support for TCM treatment of colon cancer.
