Research Progress on the Role of Serum Inflammatory Factors in the Occurrence and Development of Epilepsy
The occurrence of epilepsy is caused by transient disorders of brain function caused by abnormal discharge of brain neurons, and the damage of blood-brain barrier caused by chronic inflammation of the brain can induce certain neurotoxicity and excessive neuronal excitation. Therefore,it is inferred that the inflammatory reaction plays an important role in the occurrence and development of epilepsy. At present, many studies have confirmed that inflammatory factors such as IL-6,IL-1β,TNF-α,COX-2 and TGF-β are involved in the occurrence and development of epilepsy. Therefore, taking effective measures to reduce the level of serum inflammatory factors and block brain inflammationmay be a major direction for clinical treatment of epilepsy. This study reviews the role of major serum inflammatory factors in brain inflammatory response of epilepsy patients in the occurrence and development of the disease.
