Comparison of Clinical Effects of Current Limbal Stem Transplantation Techniquesand Amniotic Membrane Transplantation in the Treatment of Pterygium
Objectives To compare the clinical efficacy of current limbal stem transplantation techniques(CAT)and amniotic membrane transplantation in the treatment of pterygium. Methods A total of 60 patients with pterygium from January 2020 to June 2023 who were admitted to our hospital wereselected and randomly divided into study group and observation group, with 30 cases in each group. Both groups underwent modified pterygium excision, and the control group received amniotic membrane transplantation while the study group underwent CAT surgery. The visual quality, tear film function, complications and recurrence were compared between the two groups. Results After surgery, the corneal horizontal curvature and vertical curvature of the two groups were significantly higher than those before operation(P<0.05),and the corneal astigmatism was significantly lowered. The visual quality of the study group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).After surgery,BUT and SIT in both groups were significantly improved(P<0.05),and those in the study group were significantly higher than those in control group(P<0.05).The incidence of complications in the study group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05),and the recurrence rate of the study group was significantly lowerthan that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions The application of CAT surgery in modified pterygium excision can improve the visual quality of patients, alleviate tear film function, reduce complications and recurrence, and the effect is better than amniotic membrane transplantation.
