Analysis of the Relationship Between Carotid Artery Lesions and Blood Glucose Control Level in Elderly Patients with Diabetes Mellitus
Objectives To explore the relationship between carotid artery lesions and blood glucose control level in elderly patients with diabetes mellitus(DM).Methods A total of 62 elderly patients with DM admitted to our hos-pital from January 2020 to October 2023 were selected.According to theoccurrence of carotid artery lesions, the patients were divided intonon-lesion group(33 cases)andlesion group(29 cases). The relationship between carotid artery lesions and blood glucose control level in elderly patients with DM was analyzed through logistic regression. Results The systolic blood pressure(SBP)of the non-lesion group was significantly lower than that of the lesion group(P<0.05).The level of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)in the non-lesion group was significantly lower than that in the lesion group(P<0.05).Among the 62 patients,30 patients'blood glucose was strictly con-trolled,20 patients'blood glucose was basically controlled, and 12 patients'blood glucose was not controlled. The blood glucose control rate in the non-lesion group was 87.88%,which was significantly higher than the 65.52%in the lesion group(P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that carotid artery lesion was closely relat-ed to blood glucose control level(P<0.05).Conclusions The level of blood glucose control level is correlated with carotid artery lesions in elderly patients with DM.In clinical practice, the incidence and mortality of carotid artery lesions can be reduced through strict control of blood glucose level.
