Effect of Glutamine-enhanced TPF Nutritional Support Therapy on the Prognosis of Elderly Critically Ill Comatose Patients
Objectives Toinvestigate the effect of glutamine(Gln)-enhanced enteral nutrition suspension(TPF)nutritional support on the prognosis of elderly critically ill comatose patients. Methods A total of 103 elderly critically ill comatose patients admitted to our hospital from January 2021 to January 2024 were randomly divided into control group and observation group, with 51 casesand 52 cases in each group respectively. The control group was treated with TPF-based nutritional support therapy, while the observation group received enhanced nutritional support therapy with TPF supplemented with glutamine. The nutritional indicators[serum albumin, transferrin and nitrogen balance, immune indicators, immunoglobulin]on the first and fourteenth day of nutritional support were observed and compared between the two groups. The Glasgow Coma Score(GCS)after 14 days of nutritional support and the Glasgow Outcome Score(GOS)after 90 days of nutritional supportwere observed and compared between the two groups. Results On the 14th day of nutritional support, the serum levels of ALB,TF,NB,IgG,IgM,and IgA in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the GCS score and GOS score of the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions Gln-reinforced TPF nutritional support therapy can effectively improve the nutritional indicators and immune function of elderly critically ill comatose patients, and improve their overall prognosis.
