Production Technology of Large Nodular Iron Worm Wheel Casting
An introduction was made on the casting method and process design and production process of a large nodular iron worm wheel.By using Huazhu CAE soft ware,numeral simulation were conducted on the mold-filling process and solidification process of two method and process schemes.After comparison,the scheme 2 of gating at the end surface of central axel hole was chosen and further optimized.In order to meet mechanical properties requirements,selected pure raw materials,rational chemical compositions,adopted in-ladle inoculation combined with stream inoculation.Surface quality and mechanical properties of 10 pcs produced castings were inspected,the results showed:no shrinkage cavity and porosities,no slag inclusion was founded in central axel hole,key groove and outer gear ring,metallurgical structure and mechanical properties of the casting met requirements.
