The structure and technical requirements of 240 cylinder head castings were introduced.The original production process and the shrinkage cavities and porosity problems in castings were elaborated.By analyzing the original process,the problem of shrinkage cavities and porosity in castings were solved after many process improvements.Finally,it was pointed out:(1)For castings with complex inner cavity shapes and large sudden changes in wall thickness,the top gating system with riser could be selected when designing the casting process,which was conducive to achieving sequential solidification and feeding,reducing casting defects such as shrinkage cavities and porosity.In the hot section of the casting center,through reasonable design of the cold iron for chilling and at the same time appropriately increasing the riser module,casting defects such as shrinkage cavities and porosity could be effectively eliminated.A dense casting body structure could be obtained and met the technical requirements.
