Optimization of Lost Foam Casting Process for Main Spindle Box Castings
The structure and technical requirements of spindle box castings were introduced.In view of the carbon defect problem of spindle box castings,optimized design of lost foam casting process was started from three aspects:gating system design,riser/slag collecting bar design and embedded box modeling method.The quality of spindle box castings was analyzed.By optimizing the gating system structure,changing the modeling method,and adding an air outlet system,the carbon defect problem of the casting could be effectively eliminated in actual production.The casting had no defects such as sand inclusions and slag.The castings had high dimensional accuracy,stable quality,and meet the technical requirements.The pass rate of castings reached over 95%.
