Methods to Increase the Density of 3D Printed Dand Cores
The experimental method for improving the density of 3D printed sand cores was introduced:using a double-box cast sand core 3D printing equipment, printing φ40 mm compression test blocks according to different parameters, and testing and comparing the density of the test blocks. The test results showed that:(1)The printing layer thickness was inversely proportional to the density. The higher the layer thickness, the lower the density. The printing layer thickness should be set with reference to the original sand mesh size.(2)During the printing process, set sand spreader to increasing the vibration frequency or appropriately increase the scraper angle could effectively increase the density of the sand core.(3)By appropriately increasing the gap between the sand outlet and the stacked groove or reducing the speed of the sand spreader to increase the amount of sand, the density of the sand core could be increased.(4)Setting the printing parameters to a layer thickness of 0.38 mm,vibration frequency of 3 500~4 000 r/min,sand outlet gap to 5 mm,and stacked groove gap to 5 mm could maximize the sand core density performance.
