Produce Nodular Iron by Using Silicon Oxidation Pretreatment Process
The graphite nucleation of nodular iron was introduced. The silicon oxidation pretreatment process was explained in detail. The structure, mechanical properties and production cost of nodular iron produced by the traditional nodular inoculation process without silicon oxidation pretreatment were compared and analyzed. Finally,it was pointed out that the oxide(SiO2)generated by deoxidation of 75SiFe was used as a transition layer for the growth of nodular iron graphite balls, which had a good match with the growth of spherical graphite and provided sufficient conditions for the growth of spherical graphite. This process reduced the production costs, simplified the operation process, and could stably produce nodular iron with a nodularity rate of≥90%.
