Efficacy of modified Decoction of Five Drugs Including Astragalus Root and Cinnamon Twig combined with methylcobalamin on peripheral neuropathy after paclitaxel chemotherapy
Objective It is to observe the clinical efficacy of modified Decoction of Five Drugs Including Astragalus Root and Cinnamon Twig combined with methylcobalamin in the treatment of peripheral neuropathy after paclitaxel chemo-therapy.Methods Ninety-six patients with malignant tumors who were hospitalized in the Department of Oncology and Breast Surgery of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine from September 2021 to Septem-ber 2022 were selected and divided into 3 groups according to the method of randomized numerical table,35 cases in the modified decoction group were treated with modified Decoction of Five Drugs Including Astragalus Root and Cinnamon Twig combined with methylcobalamin,32 cases in the basic decoction group were treated with Decoction of Five Drugs Including Astragalus Root and Cinnamon Twig combined with methylcobalamin,29 cases in the control group were treated with meth-ylcobalamin,all the three groups were treated continuously for 14 days.The peripheral neuropathy classification,the ECOG scores and KPS scores before and after treatment,as well as the clinical efficacy and treatment safety of after 14 days of treatment were observed in the three groups.Results Compared with before treatment,the peripheral neuropathy classifica-tion,ECOG scores and the KPS scores of the three groups and basic decoction group were significantly improved after treat-ment(all P<0.05);the differences in the peripheral neuropathy classification,ECOG scores of the modified decoction group and basic decoction group were not statistical significant compared with the control group,but the KPS score were sig-nificantly higher than that of the control group(both P>0.05),there were no significant differences in peripheral neuropa-thy classification,ECOG scores and KPS scores between the modified decoction group and basic decoction group(all P>0.05).The differences in the total effective rate of treatment among the three groups were not statistically significant(all P>0.05),and no adverse reactions were found.Conclusion Modified Decoction of Five Drugs Including Astragalus Root and Cinnamon Twig combined with methylcobalamin can reduce peripheral neuropathy,improve physical strength and functional status of patients after paclitaxel chemotherapy.
