Efficacy of low-frequency acupoint electrical stimulation on upper limb spasticity after stroke based on Luoshu numerology theory
Objective It is to explore the clinical efficacy of low-frequency acupoint electrical stimulation in the treat-ment of post-stroke upper limb spasticity under the guidance of Luoshu numerology. Methods A total of 120 patients with post-stroke upper limb spasticity treated in Jilin Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine from March 2021 to March 2023 were selected and randomly divided into treatment group and control group, with 60 cases in each group,58 cases in the treatment group and 56 cases in the control group finally completed the study. Both groups were treated with conventional medicine, acupuncture and related rehabilitation training, additionally, the control group was giv-en conventional low-frequency acupoint electrical stimulation on flexor and extensor muscles, while the treatment group was given low-frequency acupoint electrical stimulation on flexor and extensor muscles according to Luoshu numerical modeling ratio, continuously treated for 6 days and rest for 1 d as a course of treatment, both groups were treated for 4 courses of treatment. The changes of classification of Modified Ashworth Scale(MAS),scores of Fugl-Meyer Assessment Upper Ex-tremity(FMA-UE),rang of motion(ROM),Modified Barthel Index(MBI)of the upper extremity, and scores of China Stroke Scale(CSS)of the patients before and after the treatment were observed, and the clinical efficacy was assessed in the two groups. Results After treatment, the MAS classification and CSS scores of the two groups were all decreased signifi-cantly compared with before treatment(all P<0.05),and the FMA-UE scores, joint ROM,and MBI scores were in-creased significantly compared with before treatment(all P<0.05),and the improvements of all indexes of the treatment group were significantly better than those of the control group(all P<0.05);the total clinical efficiency of the treatment group was 89.66%(52/58),which was significantly higher than that 73.21%(41/56)of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Low-frequency acupoint electrical stimulation based on Luoshu numerology theory can significantly improve the degree of spasticity of upper limbs, and improve daily life ability and upper limb motor function of patients with post-stroke upper limb spasticity, the clinical efficacy is remarkable.
