Efficacy of decoction for enriching kidney nourishing heart and calming spirit on insomnia of syndrome of non-interaction between heart and kidney and its effects on hyperarousal state
Objective It is to observe the therapeutic efficacy of decoction for enriching kidney nourishing heart and calming spirit in the treatment of insomnia of syndrome of non-interaction between heart and kidney and its effect on hyper-arousal state.Methods Ninety-four patients with insomnia of syndrome of non-interaction between heart and kidney diag-nosed and treated in the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Shanghai Fifth People's Hospital from April to No-vember 2023 were selected and divided into treatment group and control group according to random number table,with 47 cases in each group.The control group was treated with eszopiclone tablets orally for 4 weeks;the treatment group was trea-ted with eszopiclone tablets combined with decoction for enriching kidney nourishing heart and calming spirit on the lst-2nd weeks,and only with decoction for enriching kidney nourishing heart and calming spirit on the 3rd-4th weeks.The scores of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),Chinese medicine syndromes,hyperarousal scale(HAS),quality of life scale(SF-36)of the two groups before and after treatment were observed and compared,and the insomnia efficacy and Chinese medicine syndrome efficacy of the two groups after 4 weeks of treatment were assessed.Results The scores of each items and total scores of PSQI and HAS scores of the two groups after treatment were significantly lower than those before treat-ment(all P＜0.05),and all the scores of the treatment group were significantly lower than those of the control group(all P＜0.05).The scores of syndromes such as insomnia,sweating,palpitations,feverish sensation in palms,dizziness,am-nesia,and total scores of the two groups and the scores of lumbar soreness,dry pharynx with little fluids,spermatorrhea/impotence of the treatment group were all significantly lower than those before treatment(all P＜0.05),and the scores of insomnia,sweating,palpitations,feverish sensation in palms,lumbar soreness,amnesia,dry pharynx with little fluids and total scores were significantly lower than those of the control group(all P＜0.05).The total scores and scores of each item of SF-36 of the two groups after treatment were significantly higher than those before treatment(all P＜0.05),and the total scores and scores of general health status,health changes,physical function,physical roles,emotional roles,social func-tion,energy,and mental health of the treatment group were significantly higher than those of the control group(all P＜0.05).The total effective rate of insomnia was 89.36％(42/47),and the total effective rate of Chinese medicine syn-drome was 97.87％(46/47)in the treatment group,while those of the control group were 72.34％(34/47)and 8.51％(4/47),respectively,the total effective rates of insomnia and Chinese medicine syndrome of the treatment group were sig-nificantly higher than those of the control group(both P＜0.05).Conclusion Decoction for enriching kidney nourishing heart and calming spirit is effective in the treatment of insomnia of syndrome of non-interaction between heart and kidney,and it can significantly improve the patients'sleep quality and hyperarousal state,relieve symptoms of Chinese medicine,and improve quality of life.
