Effects of therapy of"five tones regulating the spirit"on chronic fatigue syndrome with anxiety based on the"brain-gut axis"
Objective It is to observe the effects of"five tones regulating the spirit"in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome(CFS)and anxiety based on the theory of"brain-gut axis".Methods Fifty-seven patients with CFS and anxiety treated in the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medi-cine from January to October 2023 were randomly divided into a control group(29 cases)and a treatment group(28 ca-ses).The control group was treated with cognitive-behavioral therapy, and the treatment group was treated with the therapy of"five tones regulating the spirit"(five element music of Gong tonal combined with acupuncture at Baihui,Shenting and Yintang),and both groups were treated for 4 weeks. The scores of Chalder Fatigue Scale(FS-14),Pittsburgh Sleep Quali-ty Index(PSQI),Self-Assessment Scale for Anxiety(SAS),Quality of Life Scale(SF-36),and serum levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT),and numbers of intestinal bacterial flora(Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus)before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the FS-14 score,PSQI score, and SAS score of patients in the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment(all P<0.05),and the FS-14 score and PSQI score of the treatment group were significantly lower than those of the control group(both P<0.05),the difference in the SAS scores was not statistically significant between the two groups(P>0.05);the SF-36 scores, serum levels of 5-HT and Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus counts of the two groups were all significantly higher than those before treatment(all P<0.05),and these indexes of the treatment group were significantly higher than those of the control group(all P<0.05).Conclusion Therapy of"five tones regulating the spirit"can effectively improve the fatigue syndrome with anxiety and improve the quality of life of patients via regulating the level of 5-HT and the number of intestinal flora, and its effect is better than that of cognitive behavioral therapy.
