Retrospective clinical study of Shudi Suoyang decoction in the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis
Objective It is to evaluate the clinical curative effect of Shudi Suoyang decoction on Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis(IPF),and to provide scientific evidences for the further development and clinical application of this decoction.Methods The data of patients diagnosed with IPF in the outpatient room of Respiratory Department of Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine Affiliated to Capital Medical University from January 2018 to December 2022 were collected.The patients were divided into control group(n=26)and treatment group(n=35)according to their drug use.The con-trol group was treated with pirfenidone,and the treatment group was treated with modified Shudi Suoyang decoction,both groups were treated for 3 months.The scores of traditional Chinese medical syndrome,scores of Lester Cough Quality of Life Questionnaire(LCQ),lung function,mMRC scores,scores of visual analog scale(VAS)for cough and dyspnea,6-minute walking test(6MWT),and percutaneous oxygen saturation SpO2 of the patients in the two groups were compared before and after treatment.Results Compared with before treatment,traditional Chinese medical syndrome scores,mMRC scores,VAS scores of cough and dyspnea were significantly decreased after treatment(all P<0.05),wile the LCQ scores,FVC%,DLco SB%,VC MAX%,6MWD and SpO2 were significantly increased(all P<0.05).Compared with the con-trol group,the traditional Chinese medical syndrome scores,mMRC scores,VAS scores of cough and dyspnea in the treat-ment group were significantly lower while LCQ scores was significantly higher after treatment(all P<0.05),there were no significant differences in FVC%,DLco SB%,VC MAX%,6MWD,SpO2%between the two groups after treatment(all P>0.05).The total effective rate was 80.00%(28/35)in the treatment group and 76.92%(20/26)in the control group,and there was no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).There were no obvious abnormalities in blood routine,liver and kidney function in the two groups.Adverse reactions occurred in 3 cases of patients in the control group,while no obvious adverse reactions were observed in the treatment group.Conclusion Shudi Suoyang decoction is an effec-tive compound in the treatment of IPF patients.It can reduce the clinical symptoms of patients such as cough and dyspnea,improve their lung function and increase activity endurance and oxygen uptake.
