摘要
党和政府高度重视居民消费的重要作用,党的二十大报告指出"增强消费对经济发展的基础性作用".然而,我国居民"低消费、高储蓄"的现象一直未能得到根本性改善.本文从"降低贫富差距、推进共同富裕"视角就如何推进我国城乡居民消费升级问题展开实证研究.本文使用中国家庭金融调查(CHFS)数据,从微观层面探讨了财富差距与家庭消费之间的因果关系与两者间的潜在影响机制.研究结果表明,区县层面财富差距对该地区消费总支出与消费升级有着显著且稳健的抑制效应,并且这种影响在不同地区呈现出明显的异质性,在东部、受教育程度高、总收入高以及女性占比多的地区中,财富差距对消费的抑制作用会得到缓解.进一步研究发现,财富差距扩大主要通过扩大收入差距与降低居民幸福感这两条渠道来抑制消费.本文研究结论对打通阻碍居民消费的各项节点,进一步释放居民消费潜力,推进共同富裕具有重要意义.
Abstract
The Party and the government attach great importance to the important role of consumer consumption,and the report of the Party's 20th National Congress pointed out that"we will strengthen the basic role of consumption in economic development".However,the phenomenon of"low consumption and high savings"of Chinese residents has not been fundamentally improved.From the perspective of"reducing the gap between the rich and the poor,promoting common prosperity",this paper carries out empirical research on how to promote the consumption upgrading of urban and rural residents in China.Using the data of China Household Finance Survey(CHFS),this paper discusses the causal relationship between wealth gap and household consumption and the potential influencing mechanism of the two from the micro level.The results show that the county-level wealth gap has a significant and robust restraining effect on total consumption expenditure and consumption upgrading in this region,and this effect shows obvious heterogeneity across regions.In the eastern region,the regions with high education level,high income and more women,the inhibitory effect of wealth gap on consumption will be eased.Further research shows that the widening of wealth gap mainly inhibits consumption through the two channels by widening income gap and reducing residents'happiness.The research conclusion of this paper is of great significance to open up the nodes that hinder residents'consumption,further release the consumption potential of residents,and promote common prosperity.
