Objective:To find out the 3rd month's changes of heart function and structure in elderly patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction(HFrEF)after taking sacubitril-valsartan.Methods:A retrospective before and after control study.A total of 173 elderly patients with HFrEF who used sacubitril-valsartan who were hospitalized in our wards from January 2020 to May 2022 were continuously included,including 131 males(75.7％),with an average age of(69.5±7.2)years old.The included patients were followed up with echocardiography.The main observation endpoint is the changes in cardiac function and structure in the third month after discharge,including LVEF,LVEDD,LVESD,LAD,ventricular septal thickness,and left ventricular posterior wall thickness,left ventricular mass index.Results:Compared with the cardiac function at the time of admission,the LVEF in the third month of the use of sacubitril and valsartan was significantly increased(45.9％ vs.37.5％,P＜0.01),while the LVEDD(56.5 vs.60.2mm,P＜0.01),LVESD(42.5 vs.47.6mm,P＜0.01),LAD(49.1 vs.53.0mm,P=0.01),left ventricular mass index(111.3 vs.125.5g/m2,P＜0.01).Similar results were obtained in the subgroups of men and NHYA Ⅱ and NHYA Ⅲ.Conclusions:For the elderly patients with HFrEF,sacubitril-valsartan would make the improvement of their cardiac function and structure.
