Objective:To analyze the clinical characteristics, diagnosis and treatment of Escherichia coli(E.coli)induced infective endocarditis(IE).Methods:A case of E.coli infective endocarditis admitted to Beijing Anzhen Hospital,Capital Medical University was reported. The key words of"Escherichia coli and infective Endocarditis"were used to search in Wanfang database and VIP database. Results:A 71-year-old female patient was admitted to the hospital due to fever with cough, expectoration, and dyspnea for 7 days. Both blood and urine cultures were suggestive of E.coli growth.Echocardiography showed that ejection fraction was 60%,the edge of the aortic valve was thickened, the echo of the non-coronary valve was rough and enhanced, the echo of the valve body was interrupted, and the valve body was dislodged to the left ventricular outflow tract during diastole, which was considered as aortic valve vegetation formation and perforation, and aortic valve prolapse and insufficiency(severe).Infective endocarditis was diagnosed according to the modified Duke criteria, and biapenem combined with moxifloxacin was given intravenous anti-infective treatment. Two weeks later, the condition was stable and the patient was transferred to a local hospital for further treatment.A total of 22 articles with case data were retrieved, including 22 English articles and 0 Chinese articles, involving 25 cases. Conclusion:The incidence of infective endocarditis caused by Escherichia coli is low,but the mortality is high.To deepen the understanding of the disease, improve the level of diagnosis and treatment, and reduce the mortality.
