Representation of Homeland in Alien Space:On Ecological Consciousness in Hislop's The Return
Victoria Hislop is a famous British writer. In her novel The Return, with her unique feminine writing technique,Hislop describes the desire and pursuit of Granada people for their spiritual homeland in the context of Spanish Civil War,and gives her care and worries for their spiritual ecological predicament. When humans,as residents, acquire the sense of identity brought by home space, they also need to adjust their self-consciousness to adapt to and maintain the healthy development of ecological home space.Home being the common space enjoyed by human groups living in the same place, humans should treat their home region spaces with friendly and caring attitude, and form a community model of sustainable development between human life and place in a more harmonious and fair way.
