Second Foreign Language Learning Intention of Contemporary College Students:Taking Hubei University of Arts and Science as an Example
An online questionnaire survey was conducted on students in Hubei University of Arts and Science to understand the status quo and motivation of the second foreign language learning of contemporary college students. As shown by the survey, most students merely learn English as a foreign language. However,to broaden their employment channels, they express a strong willingness to select their interested national language as a second foreign language for offline learning, and the content is dominated by mastery of daily communication language and language's country culture.Currently, their learning intention is not achieved due to the lack of time and energy, and non-smoothness of the learning path. Thus, the school is suggested to offer students the rights to choose foreign language learning, fully use existing resources, satisfy students'willingness to learn a second foreign language, help the country construct a diversified pattern of public foreign languages, boost the free and all-round development of students, and cultivate"professional + plurilingual"compound talent for the society.
