Sustainable Use of Water Resources in Xiangyang Based on Water Ecological Footprint
In order to assess the level of sustainable water use in Xiangyang,the ecological footprint,ecological carrying capacity,and the sustainable utilization status of water resources in Xiangyang City during 2007 to 2021 were all analyzed based on the water resources ecological footprint model.The ecological footprint of water resources per capita in Xiangyang City was mainly affected by production water footprint,and the capacity of water resources per capita was mainly affected by rainfall.With the exception of 2007,2008,2017 and 2020,the ecological footprint of water resources per capita in Xiangyang was larger than the capacity of water resources per capita over the years,therefore,the water resources ecological pressure index was only slightly less than 1 in 2007,2008,2017 and 2020,while all other years it was greater than 1,and the per capita water resource had an ecological surplus of 0.027 hm2 in 2007,2008,2017 and 2020,while all other years it was in an ecological deficit state,which indicated that the utilization of water resources was unsustainable.The water resources ecological footprint of 10000 Yuan GDP was in decline,which indicated that the water resources utilization rate enhanced year by year.Xiangyang City needs to further enhance the awareness of water conservation,optimize the industrial structure and improve water use efficiency in agriculture and industry.
