Evaluation of Water Resources Carrying Capacity of Xiangyang City Based on Principal Component Analysis
In order to comprehensively evaluate the water resources carrying capacity of Xiangyang City,an evaluation system was constructed by selecting 12 indicators from five aspects,namely,socio-economy,water resources endowment,water resources development and utilization,water resources management,and water environment,and the water resources carrying capacity of Xiangyang City was evaluated from 2010 to 2022 by using Principal Component Analysis(PCA).The results show that:high-quality development,water resources conditions and inter-industry water use conflicts are the three main factors affecting the water resources carrying capacity of Xiangyang;high-quality development,which emphasizes socio-economics,water resources management and the water environment,is the primary factor with the greatest increase year by year;water resources conditions are the secondary factor,fluctuations are frequent and dramatic,which is unstable;inter-industry water use conflicts trend to moderation,but there is relatively prominent in dry years;Xiangyang City's water resources carrying capacity is generally on the rise from 2010 to 2022,but there is still much room for improvement.The results of the evaluation can provide a reference for Xiangyang City to carry out water resources work and promote sustainable socio-economic development.
