A Brief View of the Ideological Characteristics and Poetics of Whitman's Lyric Poetry
Walt Whitman,a great American poet in the 19th century,wrote Leaves of Grass.His poetry is imbued with a love of nature,a yearning for freedom and democracy,and a faith in America's future.This paper analyzes Whitman's poetry works and expounds the ideological characteristics and poetics of his poems.The poet praises the beauty of human body,the greatness of ordinary people,and the harmony between man and nature in his labor through"self".The main theme of Leaves of Grass is democratic spirit.Whitman hopes to build a society without class and oppression,where men and women are equal and people are masters of their own country.Its democratic spirit and the idea of fraternity inspired people to move forward.In the form of poetry,Whitman created free style poetry,which won the world's reputation.
