A Critical Investigation into Annotations Affiliated with"Dongke Shortcut"of Ode to Xinjiang South Road:On the Keriya Road between Xinjiang and Xizang of Qing Dynasty
There were annotations affiliated with"Dongke shortcut"of Ode to Xinjiang composed by Xu Song as the geographer of Qing dynasty.The"Dongke shortcut"was explained as the"Dongkeerting Mountain"located in the south of Khotan,Xinjiang,via which Junggar launched a sneak attack on Xizang in the 56th year of Kangxi's reign(1717).However,after combing through the documents,we may find out that the"Dongke shortcut"should be Keri-ya road,and the"Dongkeerting"was the mistaken transcript of"Jingkeerting".Nevertheless,with the careful check of the officially complied documents and local chronicles written by himself,a conclusion may be drawn that the mis-take in Ode to Xinjiang was not the real careless omission,but the result of bringing his literature work into corre-spondence with official complied documents.
