On the Identity of Chinese Culture by Ethnic Minority Regimes during the Period of Late Tang and Five Dynasties
At the replacement of the Five Dynasties in the end of the Tang Dynasty,both Shatuo and Khitan estab-lished ethnic minority regimes.In politics,they inherited the decrees and regulations of the Tang Dynasty,followed the Chinese etiquette and Li-yue culture,and continued the orthodox concepts of the Central Plains;In terms of edu-cation,they vigorously promoted cultural education,established schools in palaces or prefectures and counties,popu-larized Confucian education,and cultivated a large number of talents;In terms of language and text,they used Chi-nese as the common language,used Chinese to write official and daily documents,created poems,which inherited and enriched Chinese culture.Consequently,the ideological basis for identifying with Chinese culture was estab-lished.According to the historical facts,the Chinese culture is the common spiritual home of all ethnic groups,and the root of forging a strong a sense of community for the Chinese nation.
