Manufacturer's Digitalization Transformation and Vertical Advantage Building under Industry Convergence:Moderation of Multi-regional Integration
As the digital economy drives industrial convergence, manufacturing industries are undergoing structural reorganization such as industrial division of labour and vertical structure, and changing the previous vertical profit distribution structure. As a result, manufacturing companies need to build a vertical advantage around the final profit distribution to companies upstream and downstream of the former industry,as well as to new entrants to digital innovation. Can digital transformation help manufacturing companies build the right vertical advantage?By examining a panel of Chinese listed companies in the automotive manufacturing industry, this paper seeks to uncover the impact of digital transformation on the vertical advantage of manufacturing firms and the mechanisms that moderate the degree of cross-regional integration of firms. The findings of this study extend the academic understanding of the significance and usefulness of digital transformation strategies, and provide theoretical guidance for enterprises'digital transformation strategies and the choice of post-transformation integration models;they also provide a side argument for national key strategies such as the"East counts as West"and policies such as the construction of a large national unified market system.
