Species Similarity between Soil Seed Bank and Aboveground Vegetation in Picea schrenkiana Forests in the Central Part of the Tianshan Mountains, Xinjiang
[Objective] Picea schrenkiana forests, the source of life of Xinjiang oasis ecosystems, are the main typical zonality forests in the Tianshan Mountains, which play an important role in water conservation.Through the analysis on the soil seed bank sampling and aboveground vegetation investigation in the upper reaches of Toutun River,P.schrenkiana forests on the central northern slope of Tianshan Mountains at the altitude from 1,750 to 2,750m,the project aimed at deeply understanding the similarity degree of soil seed bank and aboveground vegetation in species composition, with a view to providing a theoretical basis for the conservation and restoration of P.schrenkiana forest ecosystems.[Method] The one-one correspondence was used between the soil seed bank sampling and aboveground vegetation investigation, and Jaccard similarity coefficient was used to calculate the similarity between the soil seed bank and the aboveground vegetation.[Result] A total of 53 plant species were recorded in the germination of P.schrenkiana forest soil seed bank, which belong to 24 families,43 genera, and 58 species were found in the aboveground vegetation, which belong to 27 families,49 genera.Of these species,43 species were found both in the seed bank and the aboveground vegetation.According to Jaccard index, with an average of 0.27,the similarity coefficient between the soil seed bank and the aboveground vegetation at ten altitude from 1,750 m to 2,750 m (gradient of 100m) were 0.35,0.31,0.30,0.29,0.30,0.26,0.23,0.22,0.21 and 0.18.[Conclusion]There was a relatively low correlation between the soil seed bank and the aboveground vegetation, and the similarity index presented a decreasing trend with the attitude rising.
