Some Advances on Study of Strong Snowfall in Northern Xinjiang
The main research results of the strong snowfall in northern Xinjiang in the past 50 years were summarized, including Large-scale circulation background, synoptic scale and mesoscale systems, water vapor characteristics and topography, and effects of all above on strong snowfall increase were sorted. Problems to be solved are pointed out as follows: various scale systems and circulations short term anomaly, variation and its interaction; the distinguished zones of different snow-storms, warm sector and cold front blizzard, and terrain effects on different regional snowstorms; the water vapor source structure, long distance relay and centralized mechanism with abnormal situation of water vapor transport and circulation in high, medium and low latitudes for strong snowfalls in different regions; physical mechanism of mesoscale system and its development. To solve the above-mentioned problems, it is very important for improving the weather forecast accuracy of snow-storms and enhancing the capabilities of disaster prevention and reduction.
