As the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt,Xinjiang is historically characterized with diverse cultural characteristics.The four major civilizations converged here,and pipa instruments were introduced into the Central Plains through this region.In Xinjiang many pipa relics are unearthed.They show that the basic category of traditional Chinese pipa instruments was established after the pipa instruments went through long-term exchanges and interactions in Xinjiang,and that as physical manifestation,it has condensed into the collective wisdom and spirit created by the Chinese nation after continuous blending with the culture of Central Plains.This paper explores into the origin,evolution,and current development of the pipa instrument,and analyzes the issues of communication,exchange,and integration among ethnic groups.In terms of cultural relics,it"describes,""argues,"and"praises"the objective fact of the integration of the pipa into the fine elements of traditional Chinese culture.In terms of historical literatures,it"narrates","explains",and"extracts"the cultural exchange connotations deeply buried in the pipa instrument,clarifying the objective historical facts of exchanges and integration between the Western Regions and the Central Plains since ancient times.On the basis of current reality,it is suggested to"observe","comprehend",and"continue"the pipa culture,exploring the essence,characteristics,and stage performance of pipa instruments,and the experience of creating a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation.
