The Idea Transformation of Place and Architecture in Action
In the second half of the 20th century, the global post-industrial and hyper-industrial transformation, accompanied by deep industrialization, brought the world into a system of fluid flow and a spreading crisis. The idea of"place"shifted to"no place","no sense of place"and"non-places",which corresponds to the crisis of post-industrial cultural criticism(1950s-1970s),postmodernism(1980s),and super-modern globalization(90s to the present).Architecture reconstructs human-place interaction in action. This article interprets the idea transformation of place and identifies three architectural action paths:space-humanism,behavior-identity,and time-human/machine interaction;as well as resistance re-place,open re-place,speed-relay strategies, reiterating the potential of architecture in action.
