Promoting and Constraining Factors of Far Transfer in Implicit Sequence Learning
The near transfer of implicit sequence learning has been confirmed, but the occurrence and influencing factors of far transfer are still unclear. This study adopted the classical paradigm of implicit sequence learning to investigate the facilitation and conditions for far transfer by manipulating various aspects such as first-order rules, stimulus presentation, and key press response settings. The study also paid attention to influencing factors such as the sensitivity of measurement indicators and the response-stimulus interval(RSI)to investigate the promoting effect and conditional constraints of implicit sequence learning on far transfer. The findings are as follows:(1)Enhanced implicit learning and far transfer effects can only be achieved when the RSI is set at 750ms and 1000ms.(2)The emergence of far transfer across different domains is attributed to effective implicit learning, yet the latter does not necessarily guarantee far trans-fer.Novel stimuli facilitate far transfer of implicit learning across various domains, but certain conditions must be met for this to occur.(3)This research challenges the highly restrictive nature of the internal mechanisms of implicit learning proposed by earlier studies, providing the possibility to confirm the supra-finite state of implicit learning.
