Arts in the post-art era are characterized by three key factors:the interaction between four pole-fields(vanguard art, mass art, electronic art,and design art),the contradictions between vanguard art and the latter three types, and the existence of four spheres(vanguard art, mass art, electronic art,and design art). These characteristics have been influenced by new world-views stemming from advancements in science and philosophy, particularly the concepts of time-space unity and mass-energy e-quivalence.These ideas find expression in all forms of art, especially in the paintings of the post-art era.Accomplished painters demonstrate two distinct characteristics:an emphasis on the void of the substance-void structure and a focus on the time in time-space unity. While Western art shares similarities with the paintings of ancient China and India in these aspects, there are also nota-ble differences among the three cultures. Therefore,a comprehensive understanding of Western art in the post-art era requires an exploration of two dimensions:the transition from the art of the art era to the art of the post-art era,and a comparative study of Chinese,Western and Indian arts.
