Conceptualization on Attribute:Necessity and Path of Institutional Ontology Research
The research on institutional ontology has not kept pace with the significance of institutions in human life.It is nec-essary for institutional research to delve into the essence of institutions and clarify their existence.By examining the understanding of institutions in institutional theory and highlighting the ontological cognitive confusion it creates,the need for studying institutional ontology becomes evident.The essence of institutions lies in their connotation,which should be the primary focus.While research-ers aspire to provide essential definitions of things,the precise form of such definitions often proves elusive.A practical approach is to identify the attributes of the essence.The widely accepted notion in institutional academic circles that"institution is structure"can be refined as"institution is elemental structure,"deconstructed into Elemental Institution,Carrier Institution,and Structural Institution.To determine the attributes of the essence,analyzing these attributes and conceptualizing them can serve as a feasible strategy or path for ontology research.Consequently,the resulting set of conceptual language for institutions(institutional ontology vocabulary)can enhance the description of institutional essence.Simultaneously,it can serve as an intermediary term for facilitating communication in institutional research and fostering the sharing and exchange of institutional knowledge.
