Achieving deep integration of the digital economy with the real economy and fostering breakthrough innovations in core areas through digital technology and devices are crucial for achieving high-quality development. This study constructs a Chinese non-competitive input-output table based on the international input-output table.Using the input-output method, the study calcu-lates the forward and reverse integration degrees of China's digital economy and the real economy from the perspectives of supply and demand,as well as broad and narrow categories. The study further explores the impact of integration on innovation in real econ-omy enterprises and investigates the underlying mechanisms. The findings reveal a non-linear effect of integration on innovation in real economy enterprises.Specifically,an increase in forward integration enhances the quality and efficiency of innovation in real enterprises, which is associated with the strengthening of their technological absorption capacity. On the other hand, reverse integra-tion,within a reasonable range, can drive innovation growth. However, excessive reverse integration may have adverse effects,re-ducing the quality and efficiency of innovation in real industrial enterprises due to cost effects and inadequate adaptability.
