Research Progress on the Role of HIF-1α in Pathogen Infections
Hypoxia-inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α)is a central regulatory factor in cellular response to hypoxia.Stable HIF-1α has multiple functions and is involved in various biological processes, including angiogenesis, metabolic regulation, autophagy, and apoptosis. The stability of HIF-1αis regulated by multiple signals, including oxygen levels, pathogen infections, and metabolic in-termediates.In recent years, increasing evidence has shown that HIF-1α plays an important role in infectious diseases. Therefore, this article discusses and summarizes the regulatory mecha-nisms of HIF-1α stability and its role in viral, bacterial, and other pathogen infection,as well as in the development of related diseases, aiming to provide references for further study on the role of HIF-1α in defending against various pathogen infections and its potential as a target for targe-ted therapy.
