Effect of Oligochitosan Treatment on Storage Quality of Cuiguan Pear
To study the effect of oligochitosan treatment on their storage quality, Cuiguan pear fruits were dipped into 500 mg/L oligochitosan solution for 1 rain, air-dried and then stored at 5℃ and RH 90%. The results indicated that 500 mg/L oligochitosan treatment markedly reduced respiratory rate of the stored fruits, inhibited their weight loss, helped to maintain their hardness and delayed the consumption of carbo- hydrate, organic acids and other nutrient substances of the mesocarp. It is, therefore, concluded that 500 mg/L oligochitosan treatment can prolong the preservation period of the fruits under cold storage conditions.
