Estimation of Vegetation Net Primary Productivity in Chongqing and Evaluation of Its Ecological Service Value
In order to understand the recent change patterns and trends of vegetation ecological effect in Chongqing, the vegetation net primary productivity (NPP) of the municipality from 2002 to 2011 was estimated with the CASA model, based on the EOS/MODIS remote sensing data, and its ecological service value was quantitatively estimated according to the evaluation index system of ecological service function. The results showed that the average NPP in Chongqing region was 500.45 g/m2 from 2002 to 2011,and was as high as 779 g/m2 in broadleaved forests.A trend of fluctuating decline was observed in time series. The ecological service value was 33.797,29.982,35.792 and 32.294 billion RMB in 2002,2005,2008 and 2011,respectively.As far as the land use type is concerned, forest land makes the largest contribution, followed in order by farmland and grassland. As for the spatial distribution, the ecological service value of vegetation was found to diminish from Wuxi county and Wushan county in the Daba Mountains and from Shizhu and Wulong in the southeast of Chongqing to Fuling district and the city proper.
