Interpretation and Decoding of"Kawaii"Myth—Based on Roland Barthes'Mythological Rhetoric
Roland Barthes'mythological rhetoric aims to use structuralist semiotics to explore the ideology behind daily phenomena. From the perspective of mythological rhetoric,"Kawaii",as a way of speaking about children in contemporary society, refers to children as"young, triggering nostalgia and childishness",which is related to the modern view of children. The causes include:the modern family's emotional acceptance of children's limitations, the entertainment of the mass media and the standardization of modern pedagogy."Kawaii"myth has the risk of suppressing the initiative of children's development, the value rationality of adult childhood and the concept of local children's education. It is possible to crack the"Kawaii"myth by practicing participatory education, standardizing recessive education and developing local education, stimulating children's potential of self-construction,regulating the production path of childhood capitalization, and promoting the complementary advantages of traditional children's education concept and cuteness culture.
