International Experience and Chinese Approach to Digital Competencies Building for Kindergarten Teachers—Based on the OECD Digital Competency Framework for Kindergarten Teachers
Teachers are important drivers of the digital transformation in education.To effectively implement the overall deployment of digital strategies in preschool education,it is crucial to pay high attention to the cultivation of kindergarten teachers'digital competency.In the Strong Start Ⅶ report,OECD introduces the digital competency framework for early childhood education and care staff for the first time,analyzing their digital competency across three dimensions:pedagogy,management and leadership,and knowledge development and professional engagement.Based on the OECD framework,this study outlines the main dimensions of digital competencies that kindergarten teachers should possess,as well as the specific manifestations of each dimension at different levels.Drawing on international experiences,it explores the main pathways for building the digital competencies of kindergarten teachers in China,optimizing the top-level design and establishing of a sound institutional mechanism for digital competencies building.It advocates for integrated pre-service and in-service training to comprehensively enhance the foundational digital competencies of kindergarten teachers,and suggests enhancing kindergarten teachers'digital competencies through efficient collaboration and personalized coaching models.Furthermore,it proposes building a high-quality,professional,and innovative digital expert team to collectively enhance the digital competencies of kindergarten teachers,accelerating the digital transformation and innovation in preschool education in China.
