The history of the development of preschool teacher education in China over the past 120 years is also a history of the glory and the dream,which is full of the spirit of endeavor and self-improvement.It can be divided into five important periods:(1)The budding period:late Qing Dynasty to the early years of the Republic of China.Foreign churches founded kindergarten teacher training institutions along the coasts of China,but due to the limitations of the national conditions,independent kindergarten teacher training institutions in China came into being.(2)The nascent period:the early years of the Republic of China to the 1920s.During this period,the tendency of foreignization of preschool education was serious,and preschool teacher education was controlled by foreign countries.(3)The period of exploration:1920s to the establishment of the People's Republic of China.Educators have founded independent,unchurched preschool teacher education institutions,for example,the Beiping Kindergarten Normal School,and they opened the road of independent exploration.(4)Reform period:from the establishment of the People's Republic of China to the beginning of the twenty-first century.During this period,it went through three phases:standardization,stagnation,and great development.In particular,the"great development"phase is a period of opportunity for the development of preschool teacher education in China.(5)Period of innovation:since the beginning of the 21st century to the present.This period further explored the path of Chinese preschool teacher education with Chinese characteristics,with policy documents and reform initiatives reflecting the great importance attached to the training of outstanding preschool teachers.Looking back on the history of China's preschool teacher education development in the past 120 years,it is a history of preschool teacher education's exploration of China's path,system,culture,and theory.It is also a history of confidence in the path,system,culture,and theory.It is more of a history of the glory and the dream of Chinese preschool educators in their exploration,positivity,and endeavor.
