Kindergarten Leaders'Perspective on Self-evaluation and the Practical Models:A Thematic Analysis of 13 Leaders from Beijing and Shanghai
As an important facilitator of kindergarten quality improvement,self-evaluation plays the key role in implementing the Guidline of Quality Evaluation of Kindergarten Care and Education.It is the first and foremost question to know the perspectives of kindergarten leaders on self-evaluation.The study interviewed 13 principals from Beijing and Shanghai by using an unstructured outline and deeply analyzed their viewpoints following the thematic analysis principle.The findings showed different types of principals'views on the self-evaluation subject,normalization mechanism,and the relationship between internal and external evaluation.It also further explored practical models from the perspectives of organization building,standards making,implementing and application,and proposed a theoretical hypothesis of self-evaluation developing stages.Finally,the study provided suggestions on how to optimize the effectiveness of self-evaluation by stimulating the autonomy and self-awareness of kindergartens,exploring the modern school governance path way and further strengthening the meta-self-evaluation study to improve the quality sustainably.
