Staphylococcus aureus is the most common pathogen cultured for musculoskeletal infection in children. However,in clinical practices, culture is often negative and no pathogen is detected. For culture-negative musculoskeletal infections, there is no indication for antibiotics because of an absence of pathogenic bacteria and drug sensitivity. This review focused upon the problems related to culture-negative musculoskeletal infection to provide references for clinicians in a proper management.
