Research advances on cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway in pediatric surgical diseases of diges-tive system
Cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway(CAP)is a neuro-immune pathway.Vagus nerve regulates inflammation through releasing cholinergic neurotransmitters to such immune cells as macrophages.Over the past two decades, the roles of CAP in systemic and specific tissue/organ inflammation have been extensively studied. However, less attention has been devoted to pediatric surgical diseases. It may provide new strategies for managing diseases through exploring the roles of CAP in the occurrence and development of pediatric surgical diseases. This review summarized the latest researches of CAP in pediatric surgical diseases of digestive system, such as necrotizing enterocolitis(NEC),Hirschsprung disease and neonatal obstructive jaundice.
