The Historical Significance of the Compilation and Publication of Jin People's Anthologies as well as Their Prefaces and Postscripts during the Yuan Dynasty
The Yuan Dynasty was an important period for the compilation and publication of Jin peo-ple's anthologies.However,due to severe loss of documents,the surviving prefaces and postscripts have be-come important texts for the study of these anthologies,providing valuable information on the time,space,ed-itors,publishers,and their dissemination In addition they are also functional in evaluating Jin Dynasty writ-ers,inheriting Jin Dynasty culture,summarizing literary theories and initiating the literary style of the Yuan Dynasty.Moreover,these prefaces and postscripts are significant in promoting the personality,academic ac-complishment,and literary achievements of writers,establishing their historical status,exploring the literary functions of"taking writing poetry and essays as a leisure activity"and"making writing poetry a profes-sion",recognizing the theory of character,the essence of Tang poetry,and the transformation of suffering into fresh and peaceful aesthetics during the transition from generation to generation,as well as embodying the multiple integrations,including cultures of different ethnicities,the ideas of Confucian,Buddhist,and Taoist,and the Northern and Southern literature,all play an important guiding role in the development of literature in the Yuan Dynasty.
