Illusion,Reality and Digital Divide:Meta verse under the"Cave Metaphor"
The metaverse has become a research hotspot at present, but there is a lack of time-space dialogue between classical propositions and the latest development in the intersection of sociology and philosophy. This paper introduces Plato's"cave metaphor"in ancient Greece to explore the development and influence of the metaverse in the social field. The"cave metaphor"and the develop-ment of human cognition of the metaverse are divided into three stages. The scenes inside the cave are illusory"reality",the scenes outside the cave are realistic"illusion",and the scenes back to the cave are insurmountable digital gaps.Based on the symbolic inter-action theory and group thinking theory, different individuals and groups often fall into the illusion and reality of irreconcilable ends when the metaverse society comes, thus forming an insurmountable digital divide. It is imperative to take positive measures to promote knowledge dissemination and social identity in response to the new challenges brought by the metaverse.
