Rethinking the Singularity Theory of Artificial Intelligence Based on ChatGPT:Ontology Presupposition,Analog Logic, and Agent Concern
The advent of ChatGPT and its wide application stimulate people's discussion on whether artificial intelligence can break through the singularity, which opens a new thought space for us to reflect on the idea of singularity theory and narrative log-ic.In terms of ontology presupposition, the singularity theory of artificial intelligence holds the intelligence view of computation-ism,and its basic presupposition of"the world is a number"and"man is a machine"is the result of abstract reduction of the world,so we can not judge the transcendence of artificial intelligence over human intelligence only by the standard of machine computing power. In analogical logic, the artificial intelligence singularity theory's analogy of data as empirical material and algo-rithm as human consciousness is just a mechanical formalized analogy,in which the social and historical content of human intelli-gence with consciousness as the carrier is abstracted, and thus the automaticity of artificial intelligence is mistakenly referred to as the autonomy of human intelligence. In terms of subject concern, the singularity theory of artificial intelligence is concerned that technological substitution may lead to widespread unemployment.Although it sees the profound challenge that technological development may devalue people,it fails to see through the complex relationship between labor and subject, technology and soci-ety,and ignores the deep nature of subjectivity that the logic of capital dominates the evolution of technology.
